Costa closing in Portswood PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 27 September 2017
Costa Portswood Costa is closing its coffee shop after around six years of trading in Portswood.

The chain, a subsidiary of Whitbread, opened its branch on the corner of Westridge Road at the end of 2011 in the former HSBC bank premises.

Window signs notify customers of the closure, but not the closure date, which we understand will be by the end of October.

According to Wikipedia, Costa has “2,121 UK restaurants, over 6,000 Costa Express vending facilities and a further 1,280 outlets overseas (including 395 in China).”

While there’s plenty of competition these days on Portswood’s high street to sell you your cappuccino, espresso or caffé macchiato, it’s thought that lease issues are more likely to be the reason behind the decision.

Costa didn't come back with comment, despite our requests.
