"The stories on your site certainly generated a real sense of direction and captured the community's opposition.  Well done for following up - good journalism."
Keith Reed - Liberal Democrat candidate for Portswood

Community group grants up for grabs PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 14 August 2017
money-1084517 pixabay 460Community and voluntary groups can apply for funding through Southampton City Council’s Community Chest small grant scheme before the end of October.

The Community Chest has been running for more than 30 years, and offers grants between £100 and £2,500 to small, volunteer led community groups in the city.

Grants are awarded twice a year from a total budget of £100,000, split roughly between two rounds

So far this year, nearly £48,000 in funding has been awarded to local community groups, and there’s a further £52,000 available to award in the second round.

The deadline for applications is October 31, 2017.

Community and voluntary organisations with an annual income of less than £250,000 supporting Southampton city residents are eligible to apply and local organisations with an annual income of less than £50,000 have priority.

Applications are accepted from local community groups and small voluntary organisations for a wide range of projects.

Application guidelines and forms are available on the council’s website at www.southampton.gov.uk/communitychest.
