Portswood-based Carers in Southampton is inviting organisations to embrace the notion of becoming ‘carer-friendly companies’ through a fun campaign featuring bears.
The idea is to raise awareness, particularly among businesses, about
staff and customers who have unpaid caring roles, and encourage
employers to consider “making a pledge” to display information, so staff
who are balancing caring responsibilities and work are aware of the
free help that’s available if they need it.
Southampton, which works on behalf of Southampton City Council and
Southampton Clinical Commissioning Group, says there are 36000 known
carers in the city, and in the UK unpaid carers save the economy over

them, so staff and managers can take selfies, and then share pictures
online using the #BearCarer tag to show support.
