Andy SkinnerHistorian Andy Skinner, left, explores first world war Southampton through the eyes of a medical orderly in a talk at Portswood Library on Wednesday, June 21.

Albert Dartnell, who was based on ambulance trains and hospital ships in Southampton, charted his experiences in a remarkable set of rare diaries.

The talk, organised by the library's Friends group, takes place from 7pm. All are welcome and entry is free.

Portswood Library is on Portswood Road, SO17 2NG
