Whitehead increases Labour's majority in Southampton Test PDF Print E-mail

WHITEHEAD, Alan Patrick Vincent – LabourLabour's Alan Whitehead has held on to the Southampton Test seat in the general election with an increased majority.

The results were:

Alan Whitehead - Labour 27,509 - Elected
Paul Holmes - Conservatives 16,006
Thomas Gravatt - Liberal Democrats 1,892
Keith Morrell - Independent 680
Andrew Pope - Southampton Independents 816

The turnout was  67%. Whitehead increased his previous 3810 majority to 11503.

In the Southampton Itchen constituency, Conservative Royston Smith held on to his seat by just 31 votes following a dramatic re-count at Southampton Guildhall in the early hours.

Nationally Labour enjoyed a spectacular night, and a hung parliament is now confirmed.
