Portswood Community Festival taking place in May PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 14 March 2017
A festival is being planned to celebrate the five years since Portswood Rec was designated as a ‘Field in Trust’ site ensuring that it remains the centre of the community, providing space for residents to meet-up, play, relax and create lasting memories.

The festival will be free to attend, and include music and games, arts and crafts. And to show that no one is too old to kick a football in the park, Active Nation are running walking football sessions.

Organisers are now looking for families who have used the Rec over the years who can bring along members of different generations to join Alan Whitehead MP at the festival’s opening. A call is also going out for friendly and outgoing volunteer event stewards for the festival – more details are here.

The celebration at Portswood Recreation Ground, Grosvenor Road, Portswood, SO17 1RX is funded by the National Lottery Celebrate England fund and is being hosted by Friends of Portswood Rec, Portswood Dementia Action Group and Carers in Southampton.

It takes place on May 13, 2017
