"Thank you very much for advertising the Titanic walks, for Friends of Southampton Old Cemetery... We had a huge number of people attend the walks, which in turn has raised the interest in the Friends group and the work we do. "

Portswood Police Station reopens to public PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 14 July 2016
Portswood Police Station signCounter services will reopen at Portswood Police Station from July 19, while front counter services at Bitterne Police Station will stop from the end of July 16.

The change is in response to what is described as changing demands.

In Portswood, counter services at the station on St Denys Road will be open Tuesdays to Saturdays.

In 2011 there was speculation that Portswood Police Station would be sold off, but as part of an estates strategy it in fact benefited from a £550,000 refurbishment, despite police stations being closed and sold off nationally.

The neighbourhood team from Bitterne is now based at Hightown Fire Station in Coates Road, Sholing – which itself was saved from cutbacks earlier in 2016.
