On Friday, October 17 our local Cancer Research charity shops in conjunction with The Junction pub in St Denys will be holding a quiz in aid of 'Stand up to Cancer' from 7.30pm.

At the same time millions of people across the UK will tune in to Channel 4 at 7pm for one huge night of TV.

Last Sunday, as many as 500 marched from Guildhall Square and around Southampton City displaying messages of defiance against the disease in memory and support of loved ones who have suffered.

As many 500,000 people have already said they support the campaign, which is backed by celebrities such as Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian Jessen.

A number of momentos are available from the Portswood charity shop, including a wristband whereby selfies and other interesting uses for them have been launched on facebook.

You can make a donation at Cancer Research shop on Portswood Broadway or online.

A wonderful evening it was too. The quiz at The Junction raised £135
and the C4 evening raised just under £4.5,000,000 towards Cancer Research in the UK.
